    Here are some suggestions Shama:

    David Baldacci books...
    Hour Game
    Simple Genius
    Lottery Winner
    Absolute Power
    Total control

All books by Mary Higgins Clark

Light mysteries ------ Erle stanley gardner's Perry Mason series

If you like paranormal stuff go for Kay Hooper books...She writes psychological thrillers..

Medical mystery/ thrillers : Robin Cook.. Go for his old ones as the recent ones are not very enjoyable..

Stephanie meyer is pretty popular with her vampire series murders but I have never tried her books..

If you are into slow books then try Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier... I find her narrative slow but the book was Okay....

    Other authors you can try:

    James Patterson,
    Patricia cornwell
    Dick Francis and
    Michael connelly
    J.D .Robb..

    Cheers

Agatha Christie is synonymous with murder mysteries :-)

Try 'Hercule Poirot's Christmas', it's a great first Christie to read.

You want mystery and thriller then I think the bourne series is one of the best. The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum

If anyone wants to have a shot at reading light books.. comedy kind you can try Sophie Kinsella.. I have read 2 books of hers Undomestic goddess and can you keep a secret.. they were absolutely hilarious.. Her narrative is very enjoyable...

Not only the bourne series, but all of Robert Ludlum's novels are good. I would recommend all of them. Also, Issac Asimov, although there is a heavy dose of sci-fi in it.

If you really want some mind boggling and unique material that shocks you, sort of, then read novels by Chuck Palahniuk. Start with 'Fight Club'.

People in this group are very well read, I'm impressed with this thread.

I would like to add one of my fav all time authors to the list - Ken Follet. Give his books a read too, specifically, 'Eye of the needle'
    Cheers
