Re: how to stop mother feeding to a child

Hi Sowmya..

Take a look at this.. Remember it might take a month for your baby to get adjusted to this new food.

Morning milk .. You can give Lactogen or toned milk.. add a little  sugar..

Around 9 am or Whatever is the breakfast time give cerelac with fruit or vegetable combo..or you can also give Idlis...If he doesn't like cerelac you can try Nestum Rice.. or oatmeal..

Follow it with some home made fruit juice.. musambi or orange..

Either Ragi Porridge or mashed rice/dal/vegetable.. with some ghee and salt for lunch....

Follow it with half a glass of water..boiled and cooled fed with spoon..

Around 4 pm u can try another feed of milk or fruit juice or even a mashed banana.

Dinner rice and dal mashed or rice and curd.....

Dinner should be given atleast 90 min before sleep and follow dinner with some water ...
Remember al the food should be cooked properly and hsould be soft..

Playing while feeding or singing or reading will help.. Kids automatically refuse food but be patient and give small quantities as the baby's stomach is still small and digestion will be difficult..

You can also try a boiled egg for breakfast and for inbetween nibbles give dry fruits like raisins/ cashews or cheese slices..

Remember to see what suits him as the stools might be a little unpredictable for a while..

To stop breast feeding you can start your baby slowly on bottle feed or sipper..

Apply some neem oil on your breast.. That will discourage the baby from sucking.. Initially the'll cry a lot but don't panic.. He might even refuse other milk..

It will take atleast a week for the baby to get used to alternate feed..
