Registered Marriage

I am a christian widower marrying a christian widow. I am at lucknow and she at Chennai. Under which act we should get married...special marriage act or christian marriage act. Which is less cumbersome and easier to go through. We want to get married at Lucknow. For filing of papers at lucknow, is it necessary for the girl to come to lucknow to file papers or i can file alone. She is not a position to come now. Can the registrar come home to register marriage. What fees he may charge?

Re: Registered Marriage

Honesty,

I am not very familiar with all the terminologies etc pertaining to christianity

so for more on that please visit this link..

Special marriage act is fairly simple..

You need to submit it in your local registrar office and her signatures and documents should be available...One applicants presence is compulsory. There will be 30 day wait period too..

Yes since Lucknow is your place of residence you can have it done there provide you have resided there for the last 30 days..Since you both have been married previously you might need to submit the death certificate of your respective spouses too..

For more on the special marriage act check

Regarding the registrar coming to your residence.. I don't think it will work.. Normally some of them attend the marriage ceremony in the venue but you can check.. and yes they'll charge fees for visiting and will expect some bribe too..

Re: Registered Marriage

THANKS RADA77. Actually they are insisting on calling the girl to Lucknow for filing of papers. Even for coming to HOME they are agreeing but at a huge fees. I am getting it done through a lawyer who is well known to me. If she comes to lucknow, that shall be a big expense for us. THANKS
