The normal WBC count range in children which is also same for adult should be 4,500 to 11,000 WBCs per microliter. In new born this number is 9,000 to 30,000 WBCs per microliter which is quite high and it should come down within two week. WBC count normally rises when your child has an infection, but can also rise in other medical situations as well, such as leukemia. A low WBC count indicates an increased exposure to infection.
