    Dengue Fever Symptoms in Kids

    Hello everyone,

My neighbor’s three-year-old son is suffering from Dengue Fever since one week. My mom is so worried because of that, and she is afraid that whether the kids in my family also tend to get that dengue fever. This is the first time; we came to know a child in our street got affected by that fever.

I would like to know, the basic symptoms of that fever in kids. So that, it can be diagnosed and medicated in the earlier stage itself.

    Earlier replies will be appreciated!!!

    Hey Ravi,

Dengue is more likely spread either in the rainy season or after that. Though it affects the people of all ages, it spreads fast in children below 15 years. It won’t spread directly from person to person.

The powerful Aedes mosquito will feed (i.e. Biting activity) on humans only during the daytime. This mosquito will bite either in the morning for several hours after daybreak or in the late afternoon for several hours before dark.

Some of the symptoms of Dengue Fever are:

    Flushed face
    Swollen lymph nodes
    Red eyes and eye pain

Severe joint & muscle pain, nausea as well as vomiting
Lower back pain and general weakness in older children
Minor bleeding is seen in some cases i.e. bleeding of gums

Soles of the feet and palms of the hands also turn red and swell
Infants and young children can have rashes along with fever and headache

Avoid mosquito bites during daytime. This is the only way to prevent your kids from this disease.
