    Simple and Healthy Barley Recipes

    My brother always complains that he is suffering from heat boils, stomach pain, hair-loss, etc. due to excess heat he does not like drinking barley water so someone share simple barley recipes.

    Barley is a healthy grain rich in high – protein, helps in reducing the risk of coronary heart disease, lowers cholesterol and boasts numerous health benefits.

    I would like to share 2 simple dishes which are easy and time consuming.
    Barley Rasam

    1 cup Barley
    1 tsp Mustard
    2 tsp Peppercorns
    3 tsp oil
    1 tsp Cumin
    Salt to taste
    ˝ cup tomato juice

    Cook barley with 3 cups of water
    Powder cumin and peppercorns
    Add tomato juice, cumin, pepper powder and salt to the cooked barely and boil it for 4-5 mins.
    In a pan heat oil and add mustard when it splutters, add them to rasam.

    Barley Kitchdi

    Barley - 100gms
    Water - 2 cup's
    Moong Dal – 2 tsp
    Tomato – 1
    Onion – 1
    Capsicum - ˝
    Carrot - ˝
    Green Chilli – 2
    Corriander leaves
    Jeera – ˝ tsp
    Oil - 1 tsp
    Turmeric powder a pinch

    Soak barley overnight
    Heat oil in a pressure cooker add jeera, green chilli , oninon and sauté them for a while.
    Add finely chopped tomato, capsicum, carrot and sauté well.
    Now add moong dal, barley and turmeric powder and mix it well
    Add 2 cups of water, salt to taste and pressure cook for 4 to 5 whistles once it is done garnish it with coriander leaves.
